Huawei Ideos an Affordable Android 2.2 Smartphone

Huawei launched an affordable Android 2.2 mobile phone on Thursday, which will be known as the Ideos. Huawei, the Chinese electronics conglomerate, announced the Huawei Ideos packs Android 2.2 out of the gate, and has a 2.8" QVGA capacitive touchscreen. Huawei suggests the retail price will be somewhere around £99-129 on pay as you go, but this will of course be network dependent and they couldn't tell us what network it would be available on, just that it will be landing mid-October.
Its support a 528MHz processor, packs 512MB ROM/256MB RAM, and has a 3MP autofocus camera without flash, a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a limited resolution of 320 x 240, the two points that might be the obvious drawback of the Ideos. Huawei claims it has worked in close cooperation with Google on the Ideos, so as to insure the smoothest stock Froyo experience possible. 

It is only 0.53" (13.5mm), but will come in a variety of flashy colors for all the GSM and UMTS/HSDPA bands you can imagine. Thus the US might easily be seeing it on AT&T or T-Mobile, since it recently hit the FCC. It has Wi-Fi n, and doubles as a mobile hotspot for up to eight devices. It also support HSDPA for a speedy data connection. You also get the usual suspects of Bluetooth, GPS and a bunch of sensors to give you auto-rotation of the screen and so on. As the benefits of Android 2.2, which means storing apps on the microSD card and it supported up to 16GB memory,

Its an extremely affordable off-contract Froyo handset. Huawei claims that, since it has been working closely with Google on the handset, it will be promptly OTA updated to the new Android versions when they roll out.
